My wife and i had been searching for a place to escape too in the Dordogne for some time. We could not have been happier to discover La Rousselie in the charming village of Ladornac. The region is well served by two airports (Limoges and Bergerac) and it’s roads are quiet and well maintained, making travel a joy. There are literally hundreds of intriguing and beautiful small towns and villages to explore and one can not help feeling that in some way you have stepped back in time.
The house is simply stunning and provides an ideal location to explore. While complementing the local architecture the house has everything you need to relax and enjoy winding down. The decking and pool area has fantastic views across the valley and the interior is comfortable and provided with all modern amenities.
But above all it is what La Rousselie does not have which provides it’s greatest feature. This is a house to escape to and enjoy the silence and peace that it provides. To lie in the hammock on the decking and count the stars is a complete joy.
We can not recommend this house enough and have already booked for our return trip. It is a treasure!!

We have just had a fantastic week at the villa. It has everything you could possibly need, from a well stocked games room, to the fantastic pool. The standard of accommodation is excellent and all done to a very high standard. Nice to have Sky too and be able to watch Coronation Street whilst sipping wine.
The local area is gorgeous (when you can drag yourself from the villa) and there is plenty to do for couples and families alike. Make sure you visit Domme and Sarlat. The local village is stunning and they were very friendly and the local bar is superb.
Flights are easy, we did Bordeaux from Liverpool, but there are plenty of options. Driving would be good too as there are some good shops, so you can fill your boot before you return to England. Hire car is a must on this trip, there is so much to see.
Paul was very helpful and we will return and recommend this place to everyone we see! Definately make a booking……

La Rousselie is set in a perfect location within a quiet village, Views from the property are stunning and the top standard facilities including the heated pool and 6 seater hot tub make the property perfect for a relaxing break away. With easy access to fabulous canoeing, horse riding, air parks and lots of local towns and villages to explore means there is plenty to enjoy on your vacation. I can thoroughly recommend this property for your holiday

My parents, my husband, my sister with her 3 children, and me with our 2 children. We had such a wonderful 2 weeks. The weather was amazing, La Rousselie is a fantastic house, extremely well equipped, fantastic views and it was lovely to have the pool – all of us in it every day, the best part being that it is heated. Have stayed in many holiday rentals before, but have decided you have to have a heated pool. Very well placed for seeing local sites. Would recommend highly – definately book it!

“As a group of 30 something friends we’d been on holiday together before but this year fancied somewhere a bit different and a bit quieter (must be a sign of getting older!) After a few weekends searching the internet we decided on France as the location and then started to shortlist a few villas. La Rousselie was one of the first villa’s we found and it seemed to tick all the boxes but we kept on searching to see what else was out there. After a few more hours internet surfing and with the help of the youngest member of our party (12 months) who became fascinated in laptops! we all selected our top 3 villas and La Rousselie was the clear winner. The week we wanted was free and so we reserved the villa with Paul (the owner) and started the count down to our summer holiday! The booking process was very easy and straight forward and Paul provided all the information we needed prior to the holiday and for the collection of the keys.
Finally the week of our holiday arrived and we all got up at a ridiculous hour to catch our flights from stansted! We flew into Limoges which was only 1.5 hours drive to the villa and on arriving to Ladornac collected the keys and made our way to the villa. On arriving outside the villa our united response was ‘wow -this place looks amazing’ and this initial perception didn’t change as we all set about exploring the facilities. The villa was perfect for the size of our party (8 + toddler) and I don’t think there was anything in the villa that was different to its brochure description. The privacy of the pool area and the unspoilt view across the valley were ideal for relaxing and the raised decking area provided an elevated position to watch the sunset whilst enjoying a few glasses (bottles!) of wine.
Fred and Cecile who owned the bar/restaurant in the village maintained the villa and were available for any queries we had. We booked a table at their restaurant on one of the nights and would highly recommend a visit for a fantastic French meal.
We spent time both relaxing in the villa and visiting places around the area; market day at Sarlat and canoeing on the Dordogne. Everything is within easy reach of the villa but a car is a must!
I would highly recommend this villa to anyone visiting the Dordogne, it is a fantastic place combining a quiet rural location with easy access to the surrounding towns. Paul provided a great level of customer service and villa exceeding our expectations; we had a fantastic holiday – thank you!”

“Absolutely Wonderful fantastic holiday. on arrival kids screaming and we all joined in. Nice clean, Airy with everything you need. Looking at the lovely hamper to get you started especially with a nice bottle of Vino. Just jumping here can’t wait to mention the beautiful sunset.
The heated pool was the highlight the water temp at 28 degrees celcius. The first week the weather was bit cool but the second week we had a heat wave it was great the average temperatures were 30 to 38 degrees during daytime.
It is situated in beautiful small village. Supermarket in Terrasson not very far. The games room was a hit with football table and table tennis. Nice cartoon pics on the wall. Also a music system in the games room just plug your ipod and there you go.
The lounge is spacious and fits a big family with a nice bose system to listen to your favourite music. If it gets too hot just open the doors and the light breeze comes in.
Upstairs nice bed kids especially enjoyed the bunk beds.
Thank you very much for letting us stay in your lovely house. Will miss it forever.”

What can I say? WOW comes to mind. La Rousselie is simply stunning, from the moment you open the door and take in the large spacious lounge and then walk around the rest of the house and gardens you will not fail to be very impressed. We stayed for a long weekend in October and the weather was fabulous. We enjoyed long country walks and spent many an hour swimming and just taking in the stunning views. The local village has an excellent bar/restaurant, the owners and locals made us feel very welcome, even in the very early hours!
We have recommended La Rousslie to friends and they have stayed already and have booked to go back again! We booked direct through the owners and can honestly say that everything had been thought of and it was the easiest foreign holiday we have ever had. We will definitely go back again.
Many thanks to Paul and Mandy.
Tinkers Holiday Rentals Review: October 2008
Hi Paul and Mandy,
La Rousselie is just fabulous. Your house is an absolute must for those seeking a real treat. It is even better than the pictures and is difficult to fault. It is situated in wonderful, rolling hills and approaching it for the first time was one of life’s ‘wow’ moments where you think, if only I………… !
We tried desperately not to be envious and not to covet our neighbours belongings,,,,,,,,,,, but we failed and had two weeks of sheer jealousy. The one and only mitigating factor was that it was ours for 2 weeks (and will be again this year!)
Going in to the house for the first time was fantastic and our 6 year old daughter went from room to room, bedroom to bedroom ,gasping ‘look at this Mummy and Daddy!’ as she visited each and every room on her quest of discovery …………… and when she found the games room her whoops of delight were amazing. She wanted to change bedroom each night as the choice was so good !
The house was beautifully clean and the ‘welcome pack’ was wonderful.
We loved the pool and although the weather was a bit iffy, we spent time touring the magnificent sights of the Dordogne. We ate out at everywhere imaginable and Terrasson was close and easy with a good choice of restaurants, all child friendly.
You were exemplary in your friendly communications with us and have built and furnished a beautiful house. We would unreservedly recommend it, but not to anyone who wants the same dates as us!!!
Many thanks Paul and Mandy for a memorable holiday…………… and we are counting the days till we return in summer 2009.

We had a wonderful holiday; weather was brilliant and the villa perfect! My parents have not been away since 1968! As they hate flying, they were so made up with France and the villa. We are all looking at booking again next August. John and I would like to come out in the winter as I can imagine it’s just as nice!! Once again, I would like to thank you for such a superb clean and well equipped villa.

We have just returned from France and wanted to drop you a line to thank you for providing such superb accommodation for our holiday. Graeme, Teagan and I could not have wished for a better location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Dear Paul and Mandy
We would love you to post these sincere sentiments onto your villa guest book.
My wife and I have visited most of the popular destinations throughout Europe and countries beyond, and although we have enjoyed them all we will not be returning. Why is this, it is because we’ve discovered a jewel in a small village in the Dordogne, France.
The villa La Rousselie is located in the beautiful village of Ladornac, just two minutes walk from the village centre with a welcoming bar/restaurant and very friendly locals. The villa sits in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is difficult to tear yourself away from. However you must do so, because the area’s attractions have something for the whole family – medieval villages and towns, castles and châteaux, daily markets, adventure parks, horse riding and golf etc etc. For the car driver the pleasure of motoring on roads with so little traffic reminds me of driving in my younger years. Our fifth visit will be in spring 2009 a date we both eagerly look forward to.

Hi Paul,
A brief comment from me and family…..
The house exceeded our expectations and the location was excellent for exploring the surrounding Dordogne area. Me, my wife and our 6 month old son had a fantastic time and hope to go back next year. Can’t wait for the hot tub!
A thought on improvement- maybe I am being fussy but it would have been nice at the time we were there to have increased the pool temperature as 25 in Sept was a bit cold. I have no idea how much it costs to heat a pool, a hell of a lot I expect, so you could do some sort of optional extra (at a reasonable cost) to get the pool heated a bit more….

We had a long weekend at La Rousselie in October 2008 with some friends.
It is a beautiful home set in rolling French coutryside in a small village. All you need is to hand and the home is laid out with modern quality fittings and furnishings. Attention to detail is superb.
The location is brilliant for visiting the Dordogne and all it has to offer. If you have visited this part of France before you will know what to expect; if not you must go. There are wonderful towns and villages close by. The countryside is amazing and the people friendly. For the children there are countless attractions within an easy drive and you can either have an activity packed break or just sun yourself by the private pool.
Thanks Paul & Mandy for a lovely break.
