The Dordogne can comfortably be reached by car from the French coastal ports in a day, the average drive being some six to seven hours.
The roads are modern, uncomplicated and often very quiet – with the obvious exception of Paris. If you’ve never driven on the continent before France is very definitely the place to break your duck – bon voyage!
